Principal’s Message – Lakeland Inter American School

The year 2004 marked the beginning of an era as the gates of Lakeland Inter American School, situated in Ratmalana, Walagamba Mw, Off Borupana Road, opened to cater to the education needs. This International School, consist of another primary school in Jaffna, was created with 360 degree education in character building,leadership,extra co-curricular activities with academics and along with a very strong dedicated and capable team of staff who became the driving force in the growth of the school. They work in collaboration to develop a school culture that values teaching and learning.

They encourage all students to strive to achieve their best with their academic learning,social skills,school spirit and sense of service to others. They support and guide the students to be thinkers and enquirers who wonder and pose questions.

Our Excellent results in GCSE O/L, AS and Advanced level examinations bear testimony to excellence of the teaching staff who create a challenging and stimulating learning environment.

We offer our students a comprehensive education from nursery, aged 2 1/2 years to Advanced level class providing British Curriculum (Ed-excel syllabus) and National curriculum in English Medium. Academic emphasis on the core content areas of Language, Math, Science, Environmental Studies,History, Geography, Religion, Reading and Aesthetic in primary classes and follow Science and Commerce streams in upper School classes. Students completing nursery, join the primary school in their selected curriculum after the graduation ceremony.

Apart from academic area, students are given enough opportunities and avenues to build up their character by involving themselves in various sports activities such as Basketball, Swimming, Badminton,Chess, Karate and Athletics.

Lakeland sets high learning expectations and provides students with more opportunities to demonstrate their proficiency with the concepts and skills that are targeted for each respective grade level. For that the school is equipped with a science laboratory, library, computer lab, language room, conference room, theatre room, dancing room, music room, and in addition an infirmary, a cafeteria and a day care center. These provide a nurturing and stimulating environment where our students are ready to achieve the best possible educational outcomes while enjoying the school life.

The school bus service gives a great relief to the parents where we ensure the students are always safe.
