Mr.S.P.Senaratne was appointed as the Principal of Lakeland Inter American School with effect from 9th February 2015. He is a retired SLEAS (Sri Lanka Education Administrative Service) Class-1 officer served last in the Policy Planning Division of the Ministry of Education, Sri Lanka. Mr.Senaratne obtained his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Peradeniya in 1972 and the Post Graduate Diploma in Education from the University of Colombo in 1984. He has started his career as a Graduate Teacher in 1973 and joined the Ministry of Education in 1990 as an Assistant Director of Education. He has served at Royal College, Colombo as the Vice Principal for 5 years and in The Sri Lankan School in the Sultanate of Oman for two and a half years as the Vice Principal / Acting Principal. In 1995/96 he followed the Annual Training Programme (ATP) in Education Planning and Administration at IIEP (International Institute for Education Planning and Administration), Paris, France under a scholarship offered by the World Bank. After successful completion of the 1995/96 ATP, he had returned to Sri Lanka and re-joined the Ministry of Education. In 2008 started serving as an Education Consultant, attached to the UNICEF and later as a Technical Expert Consultant attached to the SLNCU (Sri Lanka National Commission for UNESCO). Since 2011, until he joined Lakeland Inter-American School in February 2015, Mr.Senaratne has served as the Principal of Burhani Serendib International School at Bambalapitiya. We wish him a long stay at Lakeland.
